PowerPod for Electric Vehicle Charging Station

(Marine Corps Logistics Base, Barstow, California)

Picking up the array

The Marine Corps Logistics Base chose PowerPod systems for electric vehicle charging systems on the base.

In the summer of 2002, the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Barstow, California contacted the PowerPod  Corporation looking for a solution to their electric vehicle charging requirements.  Rather than run underground electrical lines and conduit, they chose to employ PowerPod B1000/1500-12's as charging stations across the base.  These units provide double-duty as sources of electrical power for tools and lights, as well as EV charging stations.  Other uses considered for the PowerPod units by the Marine Corps and other branches of the military are for entry gate security checkpoint power stations to run searchlights and equipment during this time of increased security levels in the post-9/11 world.   Should there be a grid failure, security personnel will still have priority energy sources with which to perform their duties.
