Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How are we to be sure that these renewable energy systems are installed properly, in a safe and functional manner, and with the least expense and the highest quality?
A: Safety issues are addressed by design with venting of the equipment side of the enclosure as well as venting on the battery side, and separation between the two sides. The dome top carries a rubber seal as does the top of enclosure separation wall. The curved shape of the dome top does not lend itself to being used as a work surface by the system user and provides a weatherproof cover. The cost of the system is reduced due to off site assembly and simple field deployment.

Q: How can we ensure that multiple village electrification photovoltaic system installations utilize the most efficient methods of installation?
A: PowerPod has listened and worked to provide systems that lend themselves to a variety of renewable energy applications. The PowerPod can have energy inputs of photovoltaics, wind, or hydro. The larger PowerPod may be configured with an inverter (up to 4-6 kw), safety fused disconnect, charge controller, etc. in order to run medical clinic vaccine refrigerator systems, lights, tools, communications, water pumping systems and more. The smaller PowerPod is intended to serve the needs of village electrification - allowing for inclusion of one or two 12V deep cycle photovoltaic batteries, one or two photovoltaic modules, and a charge controller with a low voltage disconnect. There is also room for a small DC to AC inverter, disconnect, telemetry equipment, water purification packages, and more.

Q: How can we deploy these systems, put people in our country to work assembling them, provide security and the ability to reclaim the systems?
A: PowerPod systems may be ordered complete, partially assembled, or components and enclosures ordered separately. They may be assembled in the destination country by native populations, enabling economic development locally and eliminating the expense and varied difficulties of on-site installation.

PowerPod is theft proof by virtue of the ability to lag the bottom to a concrete slav or wooden base and the use of keyed alike locking hasps for the top. Reclaimability is affected by the fact that the entire system is one piece. If it becomes necessary to reclaim or replace the system, service personnel simply go to the site and pick it up.

PowerPod systems may be transported to the point of service with relative ease, and in both the large and small systems, batteries [ can be?] installed or replaced on location. These systems have a wide range of applications from village electrification to medical clinic and school power, as well as military remote power. Custom component specifications are available on request. These applications are limited only by your imagination and the component choices. Value-added system packages including energy efficient lights and fixtures are also available on request.
